A Historic Building in L.A.’s Cypress Park Engulfed in Flames During Event
A devastating fire engulfed a historic structure in L.A.’s Cypress Park neighborhood during what authorities suspect was a wedding reception. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the blaze at L.A. River Studios, situated near North San Fernando Road and Division Street, around 2:10 a.m.
The building, formerly home to the Smith-Miller Toy Company in 1931, hosted more than 200 individuals attending a private event, potentially a wedding reception, at the time of the fire. Thankfully, all attendees and staff evacuated safely as the flames took hold.
Over 150 firefighters were deployed to tackle the intense blaze, which required a defensive strategy to combat the fire’s escalation. Crews continued working at the scene until 6 a.m. Saturday, focusing on extinguishing hot spots.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the attendees or responders. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by LAFD officials.
