Saud, Salman record one of quickest partnerships in Pakistan’s Test history

Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha demonstrated an impressive batting performance during their partnership in the first innings of the ongoing Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle. Their partnership yielded a remarkable 177 runs and was achieved at a striking rate of 4.96 runs per over. This makes it the second-fastest partnership of 175 or more runs between a pair of Pakistani batsmen in Test matches.

The quickest partnership of 175 or more runs for Pakistan in Tests stands at a rate of 5.65 runs per over, achieved by Taufeeq Umar and Inzamam against Zimbabwe in 2002 in Harare, where they scored 180 runs. Following closely behind is the partnership between Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha, who scored 177 runs at a rate of 4.96 runs per over against Sri Lanka in the ongoing Test match in Galle.

Another notable partnership for Pakistan in Test cricket is the one between Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf, who scored 319 runs against India at a rate of 4.90 runs per over in 2016 in Lahore.

The performances of Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha in their partnership showcase their ability to score runs at an impressive rate, contributing significantly to Pakistan’s total in the ongoing Test match against Sri Lanka.

Salman departed after scoring 83 from 113 balls, whereas Saud Shakeel has scored his maiden away Test century and is currently unbeaten.
