Pakistan to import sugar, cotton from India: Finance Minister Hammad Azhar

Pakistan will purport sugar and cotton from India, recently designated Finance Minister Hammad Azhar declared on Wednesday, lifting a about two-year ancient boycott on their purport from the neighboring country.  The Financial Coordination Committee (ECC) on Wednesday permitted the private segment to consequence five lakh tons of white sugar from India, Azhar said.”In India, the cost of sugar is very cheap,” he said. “Consequently, we have chosen to continue sugar exchange with India,” he was cited as saying by Geo TV.  He moreover said that Pakistan will purport cotton from India beginning June this year. “The consequence of cotton from India was prohibited and this had a coordinate impact on our SMEs,” he said. “In any case, at the suggestion of the Service of Commerce, we have moreover chosen to continue the exchange of cotton with India,” he added. The resumption of moment of these products will lead to fractional restoration of respective exchange relations, the First light daily paper said.
